In terms of growth, where do you see Bestmile in 5 years?
I see Bestmile the leading fleet orchestration platform, with all kinds of human-driven and autonomous service using our platform to orchestrate fleets, to maximize revenue, and to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Is Bestmile a tie or hoodie workplace? In other words, can you tell us a little about Bestmile’s culture and work environment?
We are definitely hoodie. In fact, every employee gets a Bestmile hoodie when they join the company. We are very casual with an open office floor plan. We also hold team building weekends where we do things like river rafting, hiking and skiing. Our culture is informal but professional. We have a lot of fun together but we also have high expectations for the quality of what we deliver, whether it is in product, service, HR, or marketing.
A growing trend among Millennial job seekers is that they are looking for jobs that don’t just provide a paycheck, but also meaning or purpose. How do you think Bestmile’s mission and vision line up with providing a feeling of fulfilment for its employees?
Our mission is to make transportation efficient, affordable and available for all. We are leading the mobility revolution that will enable cities to move more people with fewer vehicles, reducing traffic and pollution and improving quality of life. The “for all” part is really important as these benefits need to be available to everyone regardless of income of location.
As a CEO what sort of values are you trying to instill in your company? What motivates you and your team?
Two values that are important are transparent communication and ego-free collaboration. SaaS software requires both communication and collaboration as multiple individuals and teams are developing different parts of the platform. In the end all of these parts need to work together. You can’t do that at the end of product development—with everyone working in silos and then bringing their finished projects to see if they work together. Collaboration has to be going on all from the very beginning of the planning process and throughout development and testing and deployment. Managers—myself included–also have to hire people that are better than themselves is at whatever the job is—that’s part of ego-free collaboration that is essential for us to do our best possible work.
What are some of the key characteristics that would make a candidate a good fit for Bestmile?
